Method
Read a LinkedIn export without distorting engagement rate
A LinkedIn Page export separates organic, sponsored and total performance. Avoiding double counts requires consolidating rows by post, calculating engagement from observed actions and weighting rates by impressions. Benchmarks add useful context, but native documents, videos and link posts naturally produce different interaction levels.
Organic measures distribution without paid media. Sponsored aggregates paid activations attached to each post.
02Overall engagement rate is calculated from totals, never as a simple average of post rates.
03Benchmarks explain the gap, but content format remains essential to interpretation.
FAQ
How the calculation works.
How do you analyze a LinkedIn Page?
Import an XLS or XLSX export, choose the scope and period, then read impressions, engagements, video views and format benchmarks.
What is the difference between organic, sponsored and overall results?
Organic is distribution without paid media, sponsored is paid activity attached to posts, and overall combines both without double counting.
Does a benchmark prove that a post performed well?
No. A benchmark is a format-specific reference point. It does not replace reading the content, its objective or its distribution.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Reading LinkedIn Page performance
Which metrics does the analysis cover?
The analysis compares impressions, engagements, engagement rate, clicks, reactions, comments, reposts and video views when those columns are available.
How are rates and formats calculated?
Engagement rate is the sum of clicks, reactions, comments and reposts divided by impressions. Formats come from the export and can be assigned manually in the table. Period comparisons use only posts in the second sheet.
Is my LinkedIn data sent to a server?
No. The file is read locally in your browser. No export data leaves your browser while the analysis runs.
